Are you ready for all the Summer parties? I’m so excited for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July! I love all things Americana and patriotic parties are among my favorite parties to plan. I’ve been sharing all the details from our Red, White and Blue BBQ for Oriental Trading and today I’m excited to share another fun DIY for Patriotic Decor! I LOVE AMERICA Treat Buckets! These are super easy and fun to make with the Sizzix Big Shot and Eileen Hull dies. So let’s get started!
Easy DIY Patriotic Decor | I Love America Buckets
For this project, you will need the Sizzix Big Shot, Cutting Pad, Magnetic Platform, Precision Base Plate, United States Map Thinlits Set, the Banners and Pennants Thinlits Set, Craft Vinyl in two colors, galvanized bucket(s), and scissors.
Trim a piece of the vinyl slightly larger than the dies. Starting with the United States Map Thinlits, make a sandwich. A sandwich consists of the Magnetic Platform, Precision Base Plate Vinyl (shiny side up), US Map Thinlits and then a cutting pad. Pass it through the machine and set the die cut aside.
Repeat the process described above with the Star Thinlits from the Banners and Pennants Thinlits Set. TIP: If you have a mini heart Thinlit, you can use that instead!
Arrange the die cuts on the bucket for placement. Remove the vinyl backing and place the map on the bucket. Next, remove the backing of the star and place it on your favorite state. I, of course, picked Sunny California!
And that’s it! I Love America Treat Buckets, you can fill them with candy, popcorn, party favors or use one to hold photo props and flags!
To use the buckets to hold photo booth props you will need photo booth props and colored rice.
How to Make Colored Rice
What you will need:
- Vase or bottle
- plastic self-sealing bag
- Food coloring of your choice
Place rice in a plastic bag and add several drops of food coloring. Seal the bag and shake, shake, shake. Add more food coloring until the rice is the desired color; I usually use about 12-14 drops. You can also add confetti or glitter to add some sparkle!
I made a set of three buckets for my Red, White & Blue BBQ. I filled one with Gummi Army Men, one with popcorn and used one for flags and party props.
I hope you’ll give these I love America Treat Buckets for your upcoming parties! Give it a try and let me know what you think, I’d love to hear from you!
Thank you for stopping by & God Bless!
