How to Make a Mini Vinyl Record Album with Cricut
For this project, I used my Cricut Design Space template along with Dollar Tree vinyl record coasters to create a miniature album complete with a custom cover, inner sleeve, and record labels. The best part? You can customize it with your own artwork, photos, and playlist links.
Why I Love This Project
This mini vinyl album is more than just a paper craft. By adding a QR code that links to a playlist, favorite song collection, or even a YouTube video, you can turn it into an interactive gift that recipients can enjoy long after they receive it.
Some fun ways to customize this project include:
- Wedding playlists
- Anniversary gifts
- Graduation keepsakes
- Birthday gifts
- Favorite bands and albums
- Family photo albums
- Vacation memories
- Party favors
Supplies Needed

Step 1: Customize the Album Cover
Open the Mini Vinyl Album Template in Cricut Design Space.
The template includes:
- Album cover
- Inner sleeve
- Side A label
- Side B label
Upload your album artwork and resize it to fit the template. I recommend sizing the artwork to approximately 4.5 inches square, then adjusting as needed.
Once your artwork is positioned correctly, select both the artwork and the album cover template and click Flatten. This converts the design into a Print Then Cut image while preserving the scoring lines needed for assembly.
Repeat the process for the back cover artwork.
Step 2: Create the Inner Sleeve
Next, upload artwork for the inner sleeve.
This is a great place to include:
- A QR code playlist
- A favorite quote
- Additional album artwork
- Event details
Resize your artwork to fit the sleeve template and flatten it with the sleeve layer.
Using a QR code makes this project interactive because recipients can scan it and immediately access the playlist you’ve created.
Step 3: Design the Record Labels
Customize the Side A and Side B labels for your mini record.
Create circular artwork with a center hole and upload it into Cricut Design Space. Resize as needed and flatten the artwork to each label template.
For a cohesive look, coordinate the label colors with your album artwork.
Step 4: Print and Cut
Print each section separately:
- Album cover
- Inner sleeve
- Record labels
I printed:
- Album cover on glossy photo paper
- Inner sleeve on presentation paper
- Labels on matte sticker paper
Load each sheet onto a LightGrip Mat and follow the Cricut prompts to complete the scoring and cutting process.
Step 5: Waterproof the Labels
Since the Dollar Tree records are actually coasters, I wanted the labels to be water resistant.
Apply a self-adhesive laminate sheet over the printed labels before removing them from the sticker sheet. This helps protect the labels from moisture and everyday wear.
I also recommend using a Kiss Cut setting so you don’t waste the remaining sticker paper.
Step 6: Apply the Labels
Remove the original label from the Dollar Tree vinyl record coaster.
Apply the Side A label to one side and the Side B label to the other.
One package contains four records, making this an inexpensive project that’s perfect for gifts and party favors.
Step 7: Assemble the Album
Use a bone folder to fold along the score lines.
Apply adhesive to the album cover tabs and assemble the outer sleeve.
Next, fold and assemble the inner sleeve using a tape runner or glue runner.
Once dry, insert the record into the inner sleeve and slide it into the album cover.
Add Your Playlist
The QR code can link to:
- Spotify playlists
- YouTube playlists
- Amazon Music playlists
- Wedding songs
- Favorite albums
- Personal video messages
As long as the playlist is public, recipients can scan and enjoy the music instantly.
This Mini Vinyl Album is one of my favorite Cricut paper crafting projects because it’s highly customizable and works for almost any occasion. With just one package of Dollar Tree vinyl record coasters, you can create up to four personalized gifts.
