It’s football season which means long hours at the field, late night practice pick-ups, Friday Night games and long Saturday practices and performances. My son isn’t on the football team, but he is in Marching Band; an essential part of the football game experience. With hours of strenuous drills and physically demanding performances, my son tirelessly is committed to his High School Band.
My son is a freshman this year and plays the trumpet, and he’s awesome! I know I’m biased, but he really is a natural and thoroughly enjoys being part of the Marching Band. He loves to show his High School Pride during pep rallies and Football Games. Can you imagine a football game without the band? As much as I love the game, the Band really makes the experience so much better!
Refuel & Power Through
Because I know how physically strenuous his practices are, I make sure that he has plenty of POWERADE to refuel during and after his practice. It helps him power through the week so he can be recharged for Friday’s game!
You Have The Power Tags
Nothing helps recharge our athletes and musicians more than encouragement! Fans attend games to show their school pride and watch the players play an awesome game, but we are there especially to cheer on our School Band.
To encourage our players, we made tags for the POWERADE bottles with straws. If you have a child in Football or Marching Band, you can easily make these tags too! These are great for before the game and perfect for team functions.
Just print my FREE Printable (you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader), cut and attach to the bottles with baker’s twine. Add a color coordinated straw for fun!
Celebrate!
After a long week of hard work and dedication, it’s time to celebrate the wins with an EASY at-home Football Party! If you follow my blog, you know that we love football parties, so it’s not unusual for me to set up a party to cheer on our favorite College Football team! It’s also the perfect time for the family to get together and connect. I have the best memories watching football growing up, and love that my son’s will too.
Football Party Necessities
All you need is a good stash of football themed party supplies, spirit items and your favorite Coca-Cola products! Set the stage with a large indoor/outdoor carpet. With a little bit of white duct tape, you have an instant football field.
If you can’t find a large enough carpet, you can easily join two together with the duct tape which doubles as a yard line, as seen above. We just measured the distance between each edge of the rug and added 12 inch pieces of duct tape every 14 inches.
Add a large inflatable field goal post in the center of your table and you have an instant backdrop! I added a fringe garland to the goal post in our team’s colors for extra festive flair. The goal post also makes a great halftime game, just toss soft footballs through the goal post and see who can score the most goals. Of course, you’ll want to take the goal post outside to limit damage to your decor (speaking from experience).
Head to Walmart to stock up on plenty of Coca-Cola and Coke Zero for guests.
Turf can covers are perfect with striped straws and tiny football straw tags. Aren’t they cute? I found them also at Walmart.
Keep the menu simple, you don’t want to spend the day in the kitchen after the long week! Have your slow cooker do all the work for you and whip up some tostadas and beans in snack trays and cups. I love using individual cups and trays for parties, it cuts down on the dish washing!
Fresh fruit and popcorn are the perfect snacks for game time!
Be sure to have plenty of spirit items to cheer on your team! Pom poms and foam fingers are our favorites around here.
And that’s it! Everything us busy Moms need to power through the week with our athletes and musicians. As well as easy tips for celebrating! How does that saying go? Work hard, play harder? 🙂 Looking for more ideas on how to support your kids from the sidelines and make the most of Game Day? Check out NotsoFastMom.com for more tips!
Be sure to head over to Walmart for POWERADE and Coca-Cola! Both can be found in the beverage aisle.
Thank you for stopping by!
Go Team!

What fun ideas! I especially love the thought of using the indoor/outdoor carpet–it looks just like an astro turf field! The band also really does add that special touch to local games, glad they’re getting celebrated here since they’re often in the background!
Thank you Nicole!
Everything look so perfect! I love these colors and the decoration.
I love how you decorated for this party. It is football time and I am ready to party.
Ok, the AstroTurf is BRILLIANT!
I love the Powerade photo with the football lights in the background.
Everyone’s definitely getting geared up for football season! I think it’s awesome that your son is part of a band, that’s really amazing and you must be so proud. It’s also important that he’s hydrated especially after a tiring practice session.
I love your ideas! Everything looks so perfect and fun.
Awe, I love the football party theme. I should decorate our living room like this as a surprise for my hubby on game day. Silly but fun.
Wow, wonderful ideas. I can’t imagine my son going on football parties!
These are nice ideas for a football party. I would love to make this for my son’s 4th birthday.
OMG what a cute setup!!!! Football parties are the best!
I can’t wait to try your football party tips. I have two tween grand kids in the band and one that plays football. I know they’d love this amazing party setup.
This is such a great looking party idea. We aren’t much for sports in this house though.
Football party looks fun and easy to prepare. Will definitely consider this since my son will turn two on January. Thanks for sharing!
