To help you get started, here’s a guide on how to sublimate different items using the PYD Life 40L Sublimation Oven.
Supplies Needed:
- PYD Life 40L Sublimation Oven
- Sublimation paper
- Heat-resistant tape
- Heat gloves/Protective oven mitts
- Sublimation ink and printer (I use an Epson F170 sublimation printer and Epson Ink)
- Shrink wrap and Heat Gun
- Blanks: 20 oz. skinny tumblers, 11 oz. ceramic mugs, 40 oz. tumblers, 18 oz. frosted glass cans
- Scissors or a craft knife
- Binder Clips for substrates with handles.
- Heat Mat
1. Sublimating 20 oz. Skinny Tumblers in Bulk (8 Tumblers)
- Design & Print: Create your design and print it onto sublimation paper using sublimation ink.
- Tip: Ensure your design is slightly larger than the tumbler to avoid any white spaces.
- Prep the Tumbler: Clean the tumbler to ensure it’s free from dust or oils.
- Tip: Use alcohol wipes to clean the surface for better adhesion of the design. You can also use a lint brush.
- Apply Design: Wrap the printed design around the tumbler, securing it with heat-resistant tape.
- Tip: Apply the tape tightly to avoid ghosting or blurry edges.
- Use Shrink Wrap: Apply a silicone wrap or shrink wrap around the tumbler to ensure the design stays in place during heating.
- Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 355°F and preheat it.
- Sublimate: Place the tumblers in the oven and bake for 12 minutes (no need to rotate)
- Unwrap: Carefully remove the tumbler using heat gloves and unwrap.
- Tip: Immediately remove the shrink wrap. If you wait for it too cool, the shrink wrap will harden and will be more difficult to remove.
2. Sublimating 11 oz. Ceramic Mugs in Bulk (6 Mugs)
- Design & Print: Print your design on sublimation paper.
- Prep the Mug: Clean the mug thoroughly.
- Tip: Avoid touching the surface with bare hands after cleaning to prevent fingerprints.
- Apply Design: Tape the design to the mug securely.
- Tip: Double-check the alignment before taping it down to avoid crooked prints.
- Use Shrink Wrap: Wrap the mug with shrink wrap, ensuring it’s tight.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 355°F.
- Sublimate: Place the mugs in the oven for 22 minutes.
- Tip: For best results, place mugs upright for even temperature distribution.
- Unwrap: Remove and unwrap.
- Tip: Place the mug on a heat-resistant surface to cool naturally; avoid using cold water, which can cause cracks.
3. Sublimating two or three 40 oz. Tumblers at Once
- Design & Print: Create and print your design.
- Prep the Tumbler: Clean the tumblers to remove any dust or debris.
- Apply Design: Secure the design with heat-resistant tape.
- Tip: Use multiple pieces of tape to ensure the design is flat against the tumbler.
- Use Shrink Wrap: Wrap the tumbler with a shrink wrap.
- Tip: Use a binder clip to secure the shrink wrap around the handle.
- Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 355°F and preheat.

- Unwrap: Remove the glass can carefully and unwrap.
