If you love crafting for Valentine’s Day with your Cricut machine, I have a fun Wood Sign for you! I recently shared our “Wood You Be Mine” Valentine’s Day Party featuring buffalo plaid and woodland creatures. And today, I’m sharing how you can make the sign in less than 15 minutes for the Valentine Cricut Craft Lightning series. Let’s get started!

Wood You Be Mine Valentine’s Day Sign
I love puns and Valentine’s Day is the perfect holiday for punny parties! If you saw out party you would have seen my little Lumberjack holding this wooden plank sign that I made with my Cricut Explore. This project is super simple!
What you will need:
- Cricut Explore Air 2™
- Cutting Mat
- StrongGrip Cutting Mat
- Cricut Vinyl
- Cricut Transfer Tape
- Cricut Adhesive Foil, Bejeweled Sampler
- Cricut Tools
- Scissors
- DIY Large Basswood Plank with Bark
- Wood You Be Mine Design
Step 1:
Open Cricut Design Space and start a new project. I’ve saved the design for you HERE.
Step 2:
When you are ready to cut, turn the dial to select the Vinyl setting.
Step 3:
Next, apply the vinyl to the mat with the right side facing up. Load the mat into the Cricut by pushing the arrow button.
Step 4:
Once the mat is loaded follow the prompts in Cricut Design Space to cut Mat 1.
Step 5:
Once the design is cut, push the arrow button to unload the mat. Remove the vinyl from the mat, leaving the cut design. Set aside.
Step 6:
Repeat steps 3 through 5, but use the Red Adhesive Metallic Foil (liner side down) on the StrongGrip mat to cut Mat 2 for the hearts.
Step 7:
Using your Cricut Tools; weed the vinyl to remove the little pieces in between the letters from both designs.
Step 8:
Cut a piece of Transfer Tape close to the same size of the design and remove the paper backing. Apply the transfer tape on top of your design.
Step 9:
Using the burnish tool, rub the Transfer Tape firmly on top of the vinyl. And slowly pull back the Transfer Tape. The design will then come off the paper backing for easy application.
Step 10:
Center your design on the wood plank and apply the vinyl. Rub the Transfer Tape firmly with the burnish tool and slowly remove the Transfer Tape. This will leave a nice and clean design! Repeat with the foil.
And that’s it! A simple sign perfect for a Wood You Be Mine Valentine’s Day Party!
I hope you give adding vinyl to wood a try and let me know what you think!
Happy Crafting!
