If you’re hosting a Halloween party, this DIY Spider Candy Bowl is sure to be a conversation piece! Get the kiddos involved and make a few in different sizes.
What you will need to make a DIY Spider Candy Bowl
- Black Craft Pumpkin
- 2- 3 Jumbo Black Chenille Stems
- Black Paint
- Scissors
- Circle Paper Punches
- White Vinyl
- Black Vinyl (optional)
- Chalk
- Carving Knife/Craft Knife
- Mars Chocolate Variety Mix Stand-up Pouches
Start by drawing a line around the top of the pumpkin with chalk. This is the line you will follow to cut the pumpkin.
Following the chalk line, cut off the top of the pumpkin with a craft knife.
Paint the the rim black to hide the foam. Let dry.
Next, pierce 4 holes on each side of the pumpkin. Space them evenly, this is where the legs will go.
Cut the jumbo chenille stems as needed to make 8 legs. The length will vary depending on the size of your pumpkin and your personal preference.
Insert the end of the stems into the holes. Bend the wire from the inside of the pumpkin to keep the legs secure.
Bend the legs to resemble spider legs.
Repeat the steps for all 8 legs.
Using the circle punches, cut 1 circle of white vinyl and cut it half. If you want to add irises to the eyeballs, repeat with a smaller punch with black vinyl. The black is optional.
Next, add remove the backing from the craft vinyl and apply the eyes in an angle in the front of the spider.
Fill the bowl with candy from the Mars Chocolate Variety Mix Stand-up Pouch. If you want to fill it with unwrapped candy like our favorite M&M’S® Peanut Chocolate Candies Ghoul’s Mix and M&M’S® Milk Chocolate Candies Ghoul’s Mix, be sure to insert a bowl into the craft pumpkin since it’s not food safe.
