Why my friends over at Cricut asked if I’d like to review the new Cricut Explore 3, of course I couldn’t say no! Being a long time Cricut enthusiast, I am always impressed by the new crafting innovations Cricut launches. And let me tell you, the Cricut Explore 3 does not disappoint! I was so excited to unbox the new machine and the tons of materials that Cricut sent to me to share with you. While this post is a top level introduction to the Cricut Explore 3 and my first impressions, I will be sharing lots of new fun projects with you as I spend time exploring (no pun intended) all the capabilities this machine has to offer in upcoming posts. So for now, let’s dive into my 5 reasons why you need the Cricut Explore 3 right out of the box.
Color and Style
Let’s start with the aesthetics. This machine is just beautiful! The matte mint finish is a soft pastel and pairs perfectly with other Cricut machines. With this new machine, you’ll notice that there is no dial to select the materials. Less buttons means ease of use! I really love the sleek design and it compliments my craft room perfectly.
Like it’s predecessors, there is a nice storage area for your Cricut tools.
Explore 3 works with six tools (sold separately) so you can cut, write, score, and embellish.
Ease of Use
Setting up your new machine is truly a cinch. Simply follow the instructions at Cricut.com/setup and you are good to go within minutes. The built in bluetooth capability makes cutting from your iphone, ipad, android and desktop super easy! Don’t have bluetooth? That’s ok, the machine comes with a USB cord to connect to your desktop computer. Of course, the Cricut Explore 3 works seamlessly with Cricut Design Space, no new software purchases are needed. I had my machine set up in minutes and even was able to make a sample cut at set up!
Cut Without a Mat!
Yes, you read that correctly. With the Cricut Explore 3 you can now cut without a mat! That means you are no longer bound by the 12×24 material length limit! This is super exciting for crafters who make large format projects like banners and home decor projects using Smart Materials! With Smart Materials, making is easier than ever: just load and go, no mat needed. The Cricut Roll Holder (sold separately) is a great accessory for cutting the larger format projects.
It even has a built in cutter for a straight cut!

Speed!
One of the things that impressed me the most was how fast the Explore 3 is, I mean wow!!! You are sure to save so much time crafting with this new machine. Make more of the projects you love in less time. Cricut Explore 3 is up to 2x faster than Explore Air 2. Wait until you see this machine in action, you will be equally impressed!
