How to Sublimate a Shirt for the Big Game
Is your team headed to the big game? Sadly, mine didn’t make it this time around. But they were close (go Niners)! So, I’m not really excited to watch the game, but you can bet I’ll be there for the snacks with a shirt to match! This project is super easy and perfect for beginners, so let’s get right into it…
What you will need:
Sublimation Printer and Sublimation Paper
Heat Press (I use my Cricut AutoPress)
I’m Just Here for the Snacks Design (I downloaded the SVG and recolored it for sublimation) from Creative Fabrica – There are hundreds of thousands of graphics to choose from on this site. Everything you need to start designing mugs, shirts, and tumblers. Any theme you can think of! You can enroll in a membership with access to all the elements in their catalog or purchase designs a la carte at a reasonable price.
Lint Roller
I created a quick video to share with you, so check it out below…
Didn’t I say it was easy? Let’s go over the steps a bit slower…
Step 1:
Download and print the design, resize, and recolor as necessary to fit your shirt. Print on your sublimation printer. If you need to make the design bigger than the paper size for your printer, check out my favorite hack.
Step 2:
Press the shirt to remove wrinkles and moisture.
Step 3:
Set the Heat Press to 390 degrees and the timer to 60 seconds
Step 4:
Place butcher paper on the inside of the shirt. Remove lint and dust with the lint roller.
Step 5:
Center the image on the shirt and secure it with heat-resistant tape. These t-shirt guides come in handy!
Step 6:
Cover with butcher paper and press.
Step 7:
Remove the butcher paper and print to reveal your design.
Wasn’t that a cinch? I hope you try creating your own shirt with sublimation. Don’t forget to check out Creative Fabrica, there are so many designs for all occasions and personalities!
