I’ve been on a decor refresh kick lately. There is something about the Spring weather that inspires me to refresh everything! I’ve had this pine console table for 20 years and frankly, I’m tired of it! I use it all the time for my party tablescapes and it’s always hidden under a tablecloth. So I decided to lift it’s shroud and give it a fresh new Farmhouse look with Americana Chalky Finish paint by DecoArt.
I am a DecoArt Core Blogger and received free product included in this post. As always, all opinions and experiences are my own.
Let’s get started!
For this project I used the following supplies:
- Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint – Everlasting
- Americana Decor Clear Creme Wax
- Paint Brush
- Rags
- Sandpaper
- Drop cloths
To start, I wiped the table down with a damp rag. I wanted a rustic and distressed finish so decided to leave all the dents and scratches on my table.
Next I brushed on a coat of paint. I let dry for several hours and added another coat.
Next, I distressed the edges of the table with some sand paper to allow the original stain to come through. Once I was done sanding all the edges and corners of the table, I wiped it down with a damp rag.
Next, using a soft clean cloth, I applied the clear Creme Wax. I had never used wax before and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to apply. I simply started in one small section and applied the wax with the rag and then wiped it off. I continued this process in small sections at a time until it was completely covered.
And that’s it! A fresh new look! Doesn’t it look great?
I love how it turned out and I’m happy that it’s no longer hiding under a tablecloth. As you can see, it’s front and center in my recent Mother’s Day Coffee Brunch!
Have you tried distressing furniture with Chalky Finish paint yet? I’d love to hear from you!
Happy Painting!
