Can you believe it’s been 25 years since the release of The Nightmare Before Christmas? Time sure flies! I grew up with the sounds of Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo, so it’s no surprise that I was super excited when Tim Burton’s movie hit the theaters back in the day. I’m equally excited to share my Nightmare Before Christmas Party in celebration of the 25th Anniversary, so let’s get started!

Nightmare Before Christmas Party Ideas | 25th Anniversary Celebration
It’s no secret that I love Halloween and I especially love Disneyland at Halloween Time. My favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion when it’s transformed to the Haunted Mansion Holiday featuring Jack Skellington and the Halloween Town crew. This party is packed with fun DIYs and is sure to please the biggest Jack Skellington fan! You can read all about the behind the scenes Party Props to see some of the process.
Dessert Table & Backdrop
For this party I wanted to create a display of my favorite elements and characters from the Haunted Mansion Holiday Ride at Disneyland. So, I started the decorating with a dessert table backdrop. I hung two Classic Halloween Black Tree Stand-Ups against a white wall. I set up a white tabletop with black legs to carry on the Tim Burton’s Black and White theme.
With the help of my Husband and his 3D printer, we created a stack of brightly colored themed presents topped with a Jack Skellington bust that I painted using Paint Markers. You can read more about the prop making process including links and sources HERE.
I also created a Jack’s Naughty or Nice List using a roll of easel paper and hung it as part of the backdrop. You can follow my tutorial, HERE.
Delicious homemade Vanilla Cupcakes topped with Sally, Oogie Boogie and Jack cupcake toppers made by Simply Sucre Shop were the perfect addition to the dessert table. And of course we had to have Jack’s best friend, Zero! I also made Jack Popcorn Balls using Halloween Popcorn Balls, Melting Chocolate and the striped Pirate Cupcake Wrappers, so easy!
The Stacked Jack-O’-Lantern Yard Signs added the perfect pop of color under the table and matched the theme perfectly. Instead of a real cake, I created a faux cake covered with coordinating wrapping paper and glued Realistic Bugs Gummy Candy to add dimension.
Nightmare Before Christmas Party Table
My DIY 3D Jack Skellington Pumpkin took center stage on the party table. Foam Orange Pumpkins that I embellished with craft vinyl using my Cricut and black and white ribbon made the perfect pumpkin patch crew. I also embellished the Black and White Striped Runner for the table, you can follow my tutorial HERE.
I made a set of Oogie Boogie Chargers which I painted in Bright Green Paint to add color to the table settings. I also added Realistic Bugs Gummy Candy around the rim. Since the painted charger isn’t food safe, I hot glued the candy to the edge to make sure guests weren’t tempted to eat them.
To add more detail to the table, I added Jack and Oogie Boogie faces to White Paper Cups and Lime Green Paper Cups with Black and White Straws. I also set out character soaps by Favors By Angelique on top of Black & White Striped Beverage Napkins. Aren’t they cute? These little soap favors are a fun way to make sure the guests wash before eating.
I hope you are inspired to create your very own Nightmare Before Christmas Inspired Halloween Party. Be sure to check out my tutorial for the DIY Jack Skellington 3D Pumpkin!
