Fourth of July DIY Hat with Cricut
This project is super easy to make and can even be done with the Cricut Joy and a Mini Press. But personally, I liked using the Cricut Hat Press with the hat form, it made it so easy to apply the necessary pressure safely and consistently all around the hat! Also, I used Cricut Holographic Sparkle Iron On but honestly, I would recommend a Glitter HTV instead. The Iron On was not easy to weed and takes a bit longer to press. But overall, the results were nice. So let’s get into it!
What you will need:
America Design – I created this design in Cricut Design Space for your use.
I created a quick video showing you the easy steps, check it out below…
Let’s walk through the steps…
Step 1:
Open the design in Cricut Design Space. It’s sized for the Cricut Hats, but adjust sizing as needed.
Step 2:
Load your HTV on your mat (don’t forget to mirror it) and send the design to your machine to cut. Weed.
Step 3:
Trim around the wording and stars to place on the hat. Use the Heat Guide app for instructions on heat settings, etc.
Step 4:
Remove the cardboard from the hat and flip up the inner rim. Open the back and place the hat on the heat form.
Step 5:
Attach the HTV to your hat with Heat Resistant Tape and press per the Heat Guide app. Continue with pressing stars all over the hat. Peeling the carrier sheet once cooled.
And that’s it! Wasn’t that easy? I love how festive the hat looks and it is perfect for the holiday!
