How to Foil Cards with the Cricut Joy
Making cards is a cinch with the Cricut Joy and card mat, but did you know you can also add Foil? The process is fairly simple, so let’s get into it!
What you will need:
Cricut Joy
If you want to be extra, emboss the Insert Card with a Sizzix Big Shot and Embossing Folder (Or you can try my hack for debossing insert cards with a larger Cricut machine)
Adhesive
Fourth of July Card Design – I created this card for your use in Cricut Design Space
I created a short video to show you the process, so check it out below…
Let’s walk through the steps…
Step 1:
Start by opening my design in Cricut Design Space, make sure you select the correct card size to match the cards you have on hand.
Step 2:
You can emboss the holographic insert cards with the Sizzix Big Shot and an embossing folder like I did in the video, but this is totally optional.
Step 3:
Following the prompts in Design Space, switch out your blade to the foil transfer tool. Insert the card on the card mat and adhere the foil to the top of the card with the included tape. Don’t forget to select Cricut Insert Cards for your material. Send the design to your machine.
Step 4:
Once done, remove the foil from the card without ejecting the card mat from the Cricut Joy. Switch back to your regular blade and continue with the cutting process.
Step 5:
Carefully remove the card from the card mat and also remove the pieces left on the card. You will need to add some of them back to the card once you assemble it.
Step 6:
Apply adhesive to the top of the holographic insert card and adhere it to the inside of the card. Next, carefully adhere the cut-out pieces to the card.
And that’s it! The foil adds that extra special touch to your holiday card! I hope you try this project out, and if you do please tag me on social @michellespartyplanit. I’d love to see what you create!
