Cricut Printable Sticker Paper and Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper Comparison
There are several sticker papers and vinyl sticker papers on the market, so how do you know which one is best for your needs? Well, hopefully this post will help you narrow down your choices. In this post, we will compare Cricut Printable Sticker Paper and Cricut Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper with “Amazon Recommended” and “Best Seller” equivalents. Several factors go into picking the right stickers, so I will be comparing 3 features and 3 brands for the Sticker Paper and Vinyl Sticker Paper.
How did I pick the brands I’m comparing? Of course, I wanted to compare apples to apples so I first eliminated any glossy products and narrowed it down to 2 other brands to compare with the Cricut products. All had to be inkjet and cutting machine compatible, and highly rated on Amazon with at least 4.6 stars.
For the Vinyl Sticker Paper comparison we will be looking at Color Vibrance, Scratch Resistance and Tear Resistance. For the Sticker Paper comparison we will be looking at Color Vibrance, Scratch Resistance and Thickness.
Print Then Cut
I started by picking an adorable set of stickers in Cricut Design Space (you can find the project HERE). Using Print Then Cut, I printed all 6 papers on the same printer and made sure the printing parameters were the same. I selected High Quality on Matte Presentation Paper for all six papers.
All six papers were cut on my Cricut Explore 3 using the Print Then Cut feature and I used the Light Grip Mat. I selected the appropriate material for each paper and used default pressure. All six papers cut as expected. Once cut, I assigned a number to each paper and lined them up for the comparison.
The Results – Vinyl Sticker Paper
Here we looked at Color Vibrance, Scratch Resistance and Tear Resistance. In the Color Vibrance and Scratch Resistance categories, Vinyl Sticker Paper #1 clearly won. Not only did this sticker paper have great color vibrance, it did not scratch at all. Papers #2 and #3 were surprisingly disappointing in the scratch resistance comparison, both did not hold up well at all. For the Tear Resistance comparison, we had a 3 way tie. All of them tore fairly easily, which I didn’t expect.
The Results – Sticker Paper
Here we looked at Color Vibrance, Scratch Resistance and Thickness. In all three categories, Sticker Paper #4 won. Not only did this sticker paper have great color vibrance, it was the thickest paper and was the most scratch resistance of the three. Papers #5 and #6 tied for second place in both the scratch resistance test and were very close in thickness. Sticker Paper #6 was the most disappointing, it did not do well with the color vibrance test and felt more like a shipping label than a sticker paper you would want to use to create stickers to sell or gift.
All 6 papers are not marketed as waterproof papers, so I did not test that factor. All had good adhesion.
Now to reveal the brands I tested….
- Cricut Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper
- Joyeza Vinyl Sticker Paper
- Paper Plan Vinyl Sticker Paper
- Cricut Printable Sticker Paper
- Online Sticker Paper
- Townstix Sticker Paper
Even though, I do not use an expensive printer to make my stickers, I was happy with the overall performance of the Cricut sticker papers. Although, I did wish the Sticker Vinyl Paper was a little thicker and/or more tear resistant. But if they look this good on my budget inkjet printer, just imagine how your stickers will look if you use a higher quality printer!
