Party Supplies You Need for a Dessert Table
A dessert table is often the centerpiece of a party. Even simple treats like cupcakes, cookies, and candy can look beautiful when displayed on trays and cake stands.
The trick is creating a display with different heights so the table feels full and interesting.
If you enjoy whimsical party themes, you might like the dessert table I styled for my Tea Party on a Budget. I used simple trays, cupcakes, and candy jars to create a playful display that guests loved. Home Goods is a great resource for cupcake stands and trays, they have a lot of white ceramic platters to choose from that you can use time and time again.
Dessert Table Supplies I Always Keep on Hand
- Dessert trays for displaying cupcakes and cookies
- Cake stands aren’t just for cakes, use them for treats and candy
- Cupcake liners in colors that match your party theme
- Decorative napkins for serving desserts
- Bulk candy for dessert table displays
- Fresh flowers or small decorations to finish the table
These simple supplies can be reused for birthdays, baby showers, holidays, and themed celebrations.
Pro Tip: Using trays and stands in different sizes instantly makes a dessert table look more polished. Even store-bought cupcakes look special when they’re displayed this way.
Candy Table Supplies for Party Favors
Candy tables are one of my favorite ways to add color to a party. They also double as party favors because guests can fill treat bags with their favorite sweets.
When I created the candy table for my Toy Story birthday party, colorful candy became part of the decorations while also serving as treats for guests.
Candy Table Supplies
- Bulk candy assortments for colorful displays
- Clear jars or containers for displaying candy
- Treat bags for guests
- Mini cupcake liners for small candy portions
- Decorative napkins
Pro Tip: Choose two or three candy colors that match your theme. This keeps the table looking coordinated while still feeling abundant.
Snack Table Essentials for Casual Parties
Not every party needs a full dessert table. For casual gatherings like birthday parties, game nights, or family celebrations, a snack table is often the easiest option.
A similar setup worked well when I hosted my Nacho Libre themed party, where guests could grab snacks throughout the celebration.
Snack Table Supplies
- Serving trays for chips, cookies, or appetizers
- Chip bowls or snack bowls
- Disposable dessert plates
- Decorative napkins
- Drink dispensers for lemonade or punch
Pro-Tip: Grouping snacks in smaller bowls instead of one large pile helps the table look organized and makes it easier for guests to serve themselves.
Seasonal Party Supplies
One of the easiest ways to decorate for holidays is to keep neutral serving pieces that can be reused all year.
For example, when putting together my Halloween party ideas, I used the same trays and serving pieces that I use for other celebrations – I simply changed the treats and decorations. The Dollar Tree is a great resource for affordable themed seasonal party supplies.
Seasonal Party Supplies
- Cupcake liners for themed treats
- Decorative themed napkins
- Seasonal Bulk candy
- Serving trays for desserts or snacks
- Disposable plates in cute themed shapes
Pro Tip: Instead of buying new serving dishes for every holiday, reuse neutral trays and stands and simply change decorations like candy colors, cupcake toppers, or ribbons.
Party Hosting Supply Checklist
If you like being prepared for last-minute celebrations, it helps to keep a few basic supplies stocked.
- White dessert trays for displaying desserts
- Solid color cupcake liners
- Solid color decorative napkins
- Solid color candy for dessert tables or favors
- Plain treat bags
- White serving trays for snacks
- White snack bowls
- Drink dispensers
- Solid color disposable dessert plates
- Solid color paper napkins
Having these basics on hand makes it much easier to pull together a celebration quickly.
Where I Find Party Supplies for Hosting
When planning a party, I look for supplies that are easy to use, affordable for larger gatherings, and versatile enough to work for different themes.
Warehouse stores are especially helpful for things like candy, napkins, plates, and serving trays because they’re available in larger quantities.
If you don’t already have a Sam’s Club membership, it can be really helpful when planning parties or hosting gatherings. I like shopping there for things like bulk candy, napkins, plates, and serving trays because the larger quantities make entertaining easier. Pro Tip: Be sure to check out their bakery, they have amazing custom cakes that are affordable and delicious! You can see one of my favorites that I’ve ordered in my Minnie Mouse party.
