How to Add Foil To Wood Veneer with Cricut Maker
I was organizing my craft room and came across a stash of Cricut Wood Veneer and thought this would be a great time to make a set of Cross Earrings for the Easter season! So I pulled out my Cricut Maker 3 to see what I can whip up. This project was a lot easier than I anticipated so let’s get into the process!
What you will need:
Cricut Maker or Cricut Maker 3
Masking Tape
My Earring Design in Cricut Design Space
I created a quick video showing you the process, check it out below:
Now that we’ve seen how easy it is, let’s walk through the step.
Step 1:
Start by opening the design in Cricut Design Space. Select the correct Machine (Maker or Maker 3) and wood veneer material. Send it to your machine.
Step 2:
Grab the Strong Grip Mat and place the veneer sheet on top. Use the brayer to smooth it out and secure it with masking tape on all 4 sides.
Step 3:
Cricut didn’t say, but I moved the white wheels all the way to the right. I didn’t want any indentations on the wood sheet.
Step 4:
Apply the foil sheet and secure it with the tape included in the kit.
Step 5:
Install the Foil Transfer Housing with the Bold Tip in the Maker.
Step 6:
Press continue and watch the magic! When prompted, remove the foil and install the deep-point blade.
Step 7:
Follow the prompts and cut the veneer. Once done, remove the mat and carefully remove the cut crosses.
Step 8:
Add the earring fasteners and you’re all set!
What do you think? Isn’t this technique awesome? Just think of all the fun wood veneer crafts you can enhance with foil.
These earrings make a statement for sure, but are so lightweight! I can’t wait to wear them. I hope you try out this project, I’d love to see your creation!
