How to Sublimate Acrylic
I continue to be amazed by the sublimation ready products now available. These LED Acrylic Frames are among my top favorite so far. When I first saw it, the first thing that came to mind was that it would be perfect for a pet memorial. Of course, you can also sublimate family portraits or even scenes for the holidays. Let’s get into all that you need to make your own plaque…
Materials needed:
Sublimation Acrylic Photo Frames Blanks
Image of your pet. Or if you want the stained glass effect, check out these popular breeds for one that looks close to your pal.
Cricut Machine
Vinyl and Transfer Tape
I created a quick video showing you the process, check it out below:
It really is that easy! Let’s go through the steps…
Step 1:
Select your design and resize it to 6×8 or 5×7 to fit the plaque. Print with your sublimation printer. No need to mirror the design.
Step 2:
Lay down your print facing up and place the plaque on top with the frosted side faced down. Secure the image with heat-resistant tape.
Step 3:
Set your heat press to 356 degrees and the timer to 120 seconds. Place butcher paper down, then your plaque with the paper side up. Cover with more butcher paper then press.
Step 4:
Carefully remove the plaque from your press, it will be hot! So use Heat-resistant gloves. Remove the paper to reveal the design.
Step 5:
Using your Cricut, design and cut your pet’s name on adhesive vinyl. Apply it to the wood block with transfer tape.
Step 6:
Insert the plaque into the wood block. Plug in the USB cord and turn on the LED.
Doesn’t he look regal? I love how this came out. The colors are so vibrant and clear!
I hope you are inspired by this project. I have lots of other ideas to share using these, so be sure to keep an eye out on my social media channels, @michellespartyplanit.
