Steampunk Party Invitation
My 39th birthday is next month and since everyone knows the birthday clock officially stops at 39, I decided to plan a “Stopping Time…Forever Thirty-Nine” dinner party, steam-punk style! Today, I’m sharing how I made my Steampunk party invitation using the Sizzix Big Shot, Dies and Accessories.

I started by designing and printing my invitation on 4×6 cardstock. I then cut it using the Elegant Layered Card die and embossed it with the Blueprint embossing folder.
Using the Elegant Layered Card die and the extended cutting pads, I made a “sandwich” to cut 2 additional panels for each invitation. One to frame the invitation and one for the back of the invitation.
Using the Blueprint and Gears embossing folders, multipurpose platform and standard cutting pads, I embossed each panel to add dimension.
I then adhered the invitation to one of the panels by using my Xyron Mega runner.
Using the Tim Holtz Gadget Gears and Steampunk On the Edge dies, I cut several gears and adhered 2 gears on the top back of the invitation and one strip of gears on the side.
To finish the backside of the invitation and to conceal part of the gear die cuts, I glued an embossed panel to the back of the invitation.
For the gears I used the Gadet Gears Bigz Die and for the clock hands I used the Weathered Clock die.
I then added several more gears to the front of the invitation and trimmed where needed.
To make the clock hands move, I added a copper brad.
Using the Tim Holtz Vintage Alarm Clock Movers & Shapers die I cut the clock face for the top center of my invitation.
To use Movers and Shapers dies, a base tray and standard cutting pads are needed to make a “sandwich”.
I wanted a wall clock for the invitation, so I trimmed the die cut and added a embossed circle background using the Clocks embossing folder by Jen Long.
For the finishing touch I die cut a key using the Pandora thinlits, magnetic platform and standard cutting pads.
To remove the die cut, I used the Stamper’s Secret Weapon.
Ok, I have to say, the Stamper’s Secret Weapon is a must have! It includes a punch tool to easily remove the paper from the dies, I love mine!
And that my friends, is how I plan on stopping time next month for my Steampunk Birthday Dinner Party!

I never thought about getting a Sizzix because I don’t hear as much about them as I do the Cameo Silhouette or Cricut but this tutorial is making me want to get one. I LOVE creating cards and this would be a big help. Can’t wait to see how you use the tags I sent you. Now I’m wishing I had a Sizzix to make those tags with. I did it the old fashioned way.
I know what you mean Tiffany! I absolutely love my big shot, and I’m not just saying that. I LOVE the embossing folders! I can’t wait to see your tags in person, they look great!!! Thank you again!
