I love Charlie Brown! I love his bad luck, his “good grief” sighs and his iconic outfit! So, naturally I was super excited when Oriental Trading asked me to style a Charlie Brown Christmas Party for their blog, how could I resist?
Like always, I wanted to set the scene with a large backdrop. It’s Christmas, which calls for big celebrations! So I perused the OTC site to see what products were available that would be great for a backdrop. I wanted something unique but yet something that could have been straight from the beloved cartoon. I came across the Peanuts® Christmas Backdrop Banner and then it hit me! Why not create a 3-d scene utilizing this banner! So I ordered all the items I needed for my party and started my backdrop on the day of my shoot. Ya, you read that right; on.the.day.of.
Allow me to side track for a second: As you may know by now, in addition to being a Mother of 3, Wife and Party Blogger/Planner/Crafter – I work full time outside of the home as a Human Resources Manager. I’m asked on a regular basis, “How do you do it all?!”. Well, here’s the secret; I reserve ONE day a week for my parties/shoots, Saturday. I do all the shopping for the parties on my lunch hour during the week so that I am prepared for the Saturday craze. Sometimes I have more than one party to create, from start to finish on Saturday including step out tutorials, photography and editing. So I wake up at 5:30 a.m. and I start baking, crafting, building etc. all the items needed for my party that day. It’s actually quite insane, especially when I’m racing against the sunlight. But I’ve found that I work best this way, so far. It allows me to free up my weeknights and Sundays for family outings, movie nights, household chores, etc. If I’m lucky, I get all my work done by Saturday evening and I can end the night cuddling on the couch with my little guy and a big cup of cocoa!
So trust me when I say, this DIY can be done in a couple of hours!
