Do you know a Harry Potter fan? We recently celebrated my son’s seventh birthday with a Harry Potter Party. When we sent out our invitations to our guests, I add a Hogwarts Wax Envelope Seal for a fun detail to the envelopes. Although I had learned everything I needed to know about wax seals from my favorite period movies, I had never actually used one. I found the traditional method of melting wax a little messy, so when I saw that I could get wax glue sticks for my hot glue gun with virtually the same results; I knew I wanted to give it a try.
Let’s get started!
Check out my quick little video for this week’s Whip It Up Wednesday!
No Mess Hogwarts Wax Seal
What you will need: (affiliate links)
Sizzix Big Shot & Envelope Die (or any ready made envelopes)
Kraft Paper
Mini Hot Glue Gun
Wax Glue Sticks
Hogwarts Wax Stamp
Step 1:
Using the Sizzix Big Shot, two Cutting Pads and Envelope Die; create a Sizzix Sandwich. The sandwich for the envelope die is as follows: Cutting Pad, Die, Paper and a second cutting pad.
Step 2:
Pass it through the Machine.
Step 3:
Fold the envelope on the score lines.
Step 4:
Turn on Hot Glue Gun and add Wax Glue Sticks. Apply about an inch in diameter of hot glue on the back flaps of the envelope.
Step 5:
Press the Hogwarts Wax Seal Stamp firmly on the wax and hold for about 15 seconds. Remove the stamp and you’re all set! Wasn’t that a cinch? And best of all NO MESS!
Add a few envelopes and traditional wax sticks on a table for fun party table decor! You can even add them to packages via Owl Post!
