Looking for easy patriotic party decorations you can make at home? Today I’m sharing five fun projects that you can create using the Cricut Joy 2, Cricut Design Space, and your inkjet printer. Together, these projects create a coordinated party setup that’s perfect for Fourth of July celebrations, backyard barbecues, Memorial Day gatherings, or America’s 250th anniversary festivities. Let’s get started!

One of the things I love most about the Cricut Joy 2 is that it now supports Print Then Cut and scoring, making it much more versatile than previous Joy models. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how I used a variety of materials to create party favors, stickers, cupcake toppers, napkin rings, and decorative bows using a single machine.

Why Use Cricut Joy 2 for Party Decor?
The Cricut Joy 2 is compact, easy to use, and now includes features that allow you to create much more than simple vinyl decals. With Print Then Cut and scoring capabilities, you can create professional-looking party decorations from a variety of materials.
For this project, I wanted to demonstrate how one machine could create an entire coordinated party setup.

Project #1: Patriotic Party Favor Tags
The first project uses glossy photo cardstock printed with patriotic flag designs.
After printing the designs from Cricut Design Space, I trimmed the sheet along the guide line so it would fit properly inside the Cricut Joy 2. Once loaded onto the Light Grip Mat, the machine scanned the registration marks and precisely cut each tag.
These tags are perfect for:
- Party favor bags
- Gift bags
- Treat boxes
- Mason jar gifts
- Hostess gifts
The photo cardstock gives them a polished finish that looks professionally printed.
Project #2: Laminated Patriotic Stickers
Next, I created kiss-cut patriotic stickers.
Before cutting, I applied a self-adhesive laminate sheet with a star pattern over the printed sticker sheet. Applying the laminate before trimming the page made the process much easier and ensured a smooth finish.
Once laminated, the Cricut Joy 2 cut around each sticker design while leaving the backing intact.
These stickers can be used on:
- Party favor bags
- Water bottles
- Notebooks
- Scrapbooks
- Journals
- Party invitations
The laminate adds durability while giving the stickers a professional appearance.
Project #3: Scored Napkin Rings and Star Accents
One of the newest features available with Cricut Joy 2 is scoring.
For this project, I swapped the cutting blade for the scoring tool and created decorative napkin rings featuring scored stars. I also added a “250” design to celebrate America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
The scoring creates a subtle embossed effect that adds texture and detail without additional materials.
This technique reminded me of a project I created years ago when I used the scoring tool to recreate the inscription from the One Ring for a Lord of the Rings-themed party. It’s amazing to see similar techniques now available on such a compact machine.
Once assembled, the napkin rings added an elegant patriotic touch to the table setting.
Project #4: Patriotic Paper Bows
Using double-sided patterned scrapbook paper, I created decorative paper bows.
These bows are quick to assemble and can be used throughout your party setup.
Ideas for using paper bows include:
- Gift packages
- Party favors
- Centerpieces
- Table decorations
- Banner accents
The double-sided paper adds dimension and makes the bows look finished from every angle.
Project #5: Patriotic Cupcake Toppers and Straw Decorations
The final project used layered star cutouts mounted with foam adhesive.
I attached the layered stars to decorative straws to create simple cupcake toppers and drink decorations.
These small details help tie the entire party theme together while making cupcakes, desserts, and beverages feel more festive.
Because the Cricut Joy 2 cuts so precisely, even small layered embellishments come together quickly.
Putting It All Together
Once all five projects were completed, I assembled a simple party display featuring:
- Favor bags with stickers and tags
- Decorative napkin rings
- Patriotic paper bows
- Cupcake toppers
- Decorative drink straws
What I love most about this setup is that every piece was created using the Cricut Joy 2 and materials that many crafters already have on hand.
If you’re celebrating the Fourth of July, hosting a patriotic picnic, or planning decorations for America’s 250th anniversary, these projects provide a fast and affordable way to create a coordinated party theme.
The Cricut Joy 2 may be small, but it is capable of creating a surprisingly wide variety of projects. Between Print Then Cut, scoring, cardstock cutting, sticker making, and decorative embellishments, it’s easy to create an entire party setup from one machine.
I hope this project inspires you to explore all the different materials and techniques available with Cricut Joy 2.
If you make any of these patriotic projects, I’d love to hear how you use them in your celebrations.
Happy crafting!
