Spring is in the air and nothing says spring like a radiant and bright Garden Fiesta!
Being Latina, I love bright outdoor parties, especially fiestas with all my favorite colors and Mexican treats. So I decided to create a Bright Garden Fiesta featuring my favorite (non-alcoholic) Sangria inspired by the Glade® Radiant Berries™ scented candles. I’m excited to be sharing all the details with you today!
How To Plan A Garden Fiesta
When planning any outdoor celebration, be sure to select a venue where you can easily hang decorations. Afterall, it’s not a fiesta without some colorful banners and papel picado inspired garlands. We have a pergola in our backyard which is ideal for a Garden Fiesta all spring and summer long.
Backdrops are a great way to compliment your dessert and food tables. When deciding on a backdrop and decorations, keep within your budget by starting with items you already own. I used my floral memo board for my backdrop, it was the perfect pattern and color palette. I covered my table with a coordinating hot pink tablecloth and colorful table runner. I also used my candle holders to display matching floral kissing balls.
Seating is important for any celebration, you want to be sure your guests feel welcome and comfortable during the entire event. I used my patio furniture as seating for our guests and set out appetizers (chips, salsa, guacamole, cheese and fresh fruit) for them to enjoy while my husband grilled the Pollo Asada.
Adding a little bit of paint to a mason jar is an inexpensive way to display flowers and adds a punch of color on the tables. I painted a large mason jar with blue chalky paint to compliment my bright flowers.
Desserts are a must have for any celebration. A large variety of sweets is sure to please your guests. I served my favorite cake topped with coconut, strawberries and pineapple.
Pan dulce is also a favorite and a must have for a traditional fiesta.
When serving chips or other snacks, use color coordinating popcorn boxes or snack cups. Individual servings allow guests to enjoy their snacks while mingling. I embossed some store bought popcorn boxes to add to the Latin flair.
It’s easy to carry on your color palette by selecting color coordinating serve ware for the food. I always like to serve freshly baked cupcakes at my parties. I baked my favorite pineapple coconut cupcakes in bright colored baking wrappers to add more color to my table. I also displayed all the food on bright colored cake plates.
Hanging decorations add to the festivities, especially multi colored garland, banners or paper lanterns.
Adding fruit garnishes to your beverages is another small detail with big impact. I added fresh strawberries to my Sangria for my guests to enjoy.
When I host a party in my home, I like to create a whole experience for my guests. Which often includes a fragrant candle lit in my foyer. It sets the tone for the celebration from the moment guests arrive. The Glade® Radiant Berries™ scented candles have hints of berries: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and yumberries coordinating nicely with a bright and bold fiesta.
Sangria Recipe
What you will need:
2 quarts water
1 cup hibiscus flowers
4 tbs honey or agave
1 cinnamon stick
1 orange thinly sliced
1 lime thinly sliced
1 Apple thinly sliced
6-8 strawberries thinly sliced
1 cup cranberry juice (or pomegranate juice)
Start by making Hibiscus Tea. Add water, honey and cinnamon stick to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the hibiscus flowers. Stir then cover for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, place tea in the refrigerator.
Once tea is chilled, combine sliced fruit and cranberry juice in a pitcher. Add tea with ice to pitcher.
Served chilled in stemless wine glasses with a strawberry for garnish. And enjoy!
