DIY Christmas Pillow – Dollar Tree Sublimation Craft
This project is super simple and great for all skill levels. My favorite part is that it’s reversible and whimsical.
What you will need for this project:
Sublimation Pillow Cover 18×18 (or any 100% polyester pillow cover)
Sublimation Printer (I use my Epson F170)
Heat Press (I use my Cricut Autopress)
Santa Hat Chair Cover from Dollar Tree
Santa and Snowman Design (sign up for my newsletter to download)
I’ve created a quick video to show you each step….
@michellespartyplanit Let’s sublimate a 2 sided Christmas pillow! You’ll never guess what I’m using as a Santa hat! #dollartree #PetSmartMadeMeBuyIt #christmasdecor #howto #tutorial #cricutmade #autopress #sublimation #dollartreechristmas ♬ Carol Of The Bells – Lindsey Stirling
Now let’s go through it a bit slower…
Step 1:
First, you are going to press the pillow cover to get all the wrinkles out. Then set your heat press to 400 degrees and the timer should be set to 50-60 seconds.
Step 2:
Protect the pillow cover by placing a piece of butcher paper inside the pillow cover. Using a lint roller, remove any lint.
Step 3:
Print out the design I created on 8.5 x 14 sublimation paper and starting with the Santa, place it face down on the pillow cover about 2 inches from the bottom. Center and secure with heat-resistant tape. Press for 50-60 seconds (depending on the pillow cover you get). Remove the paper to reveal the design.
Step 4:
Next, flip it over and repeat the process with the snowman image. When done, fill it with your pillow insert and zip it up.
Step 5:
Grab your Santa Hat Chair Cover from Dollar Tree and press it lightly to iron out the wrinkles. Put the hat on the pillow and fold it over the top to drape over the pillow’s face.
Last Step:
Now flip it! Isn’t it adorable? I really love how this Dollar Tree sublimation project turned out. If you try this project, please tag me on social @michellespartyplanit, I’d love to see your creations!
