DIY St. Patrick’s Day Dollar Tree Sign
Dollar Tree and Cricut crafts are my favorite craft mash up. When you invest in high-quality crafting tools, you want to keep your craft supply costs as low as possible. At least I do, and with all the new craft supplies and tools now available at Dollar Tree, I find that I can stretch my $1.25 a little more these days. Let’s go over the supply list for this St. Patrick’s Day Dollar Tree Sign.
What you will need to make this St. Patrick’s Day Dollar Tree Sign:
St. Patrick’s Day Wood Clovers from Dollar Tree
Sand Paper from Dollar Tree
Hot Glue Gun and Glue (check Dollar Tree)
Cricut Machine (I use my Cricut Explore 3)
Hello Lucky design in Cricut Design Space
I created a video to walk you through the step, we all learn better with videos, right?
Here’s a sped-up version…
Now, let’s go over the process a bit slower:
Step 1:
To start, open up the design in Cricut Design Space. I have already sized it to fit the Dollar Tree plaque, but if you are using a different wood piece, resize it as needed. Send it to your machine.
Step 2:
Next, grab your Strong Grip mat and apply your Glitter HTV. Cut and weed the design.
Step 3:
Next, get the wood plaque and remove the tag, keep it aside, we’ll need it later. Place the white HTV over the wood plaque starting 3 inches from the top and cut the vinyl to size. Place Gold HTV on the top portion as shown in the video, You’ll want to make sure the shiny side is up, then flip it over to secure the vinyl to the wood with heat-resistant tape.
Step 4:
Once secured, we’re going to press it at 300 degrees for 30-40 seconds. Don’t forget the butcher paper to protect the pressing mat and heat plate.
Step 5:
Next, we’re going to cut the excess vinyl with a craft knife on a craft mat. Remove the carrier sheet and sand the edges as needed. Put the twine back on the sign.
Step 6:
Now, carefully line up the lettering you cut, and using the mini press set on high, press for a few seconds until adhered. Peel away the carrier sheet.
Step 7:
Add wood beads to the twine and glue a green wood glover to the center of the gold section.
And that’s it! What do you think? I love how it turned out. And best of all, we didn’t have any mess from the paint and you didn’t need to stencil anything or let anything dry! HTV on wood leaves a nice smooth surface great for laying more HTV.
