My boys LOVE sharks. So in honor of all things Summer, we had a little play date/pool party to kick off SHARK WEEK!
Shark Party Decor & Dessert Table:
I had so much fun setting up the little dessert table, bright blue and orange are my favorite colors for summer parties. I recently set up a Nautical Party for the Fourth of July, so I already had the backdrop, fish platter, nets and buoys out and ready to go! Setting up was a cinch since our friends over at Oriental Trading Company sent me some JAWSOME party supplies that were perfect for our little party. The blue and orange tablecloths from my son’s Adios 8th Grade Party matched the chevron banners perfectly. I just threw a few nets over the linens and hung a plastic shark garland that I made with baker’s twine and voila, a shark party! I embossed the popcorn boxes with my Sizzix Big Shot (see tutorial here) and filled them with popcorn and Goldfish crackers. I also filled small candy cups with gummy bears and a large gummy shark. Instead of a cake, I baked orange cupcakes with my recently discovered Wilton King Size Muffin Pan, and topped it with a paper shark fin. Side note: if you love cupcakes, this jumbo cupcake pan is for you! It takes a whole box of cake mix to make six! For the cereal treats, I cut them up in shape of a shark fin and covered them in blue candy melts and then added a few die cut waves I also made with my Sizzix Big Shot.
Shark Party Activities:
The boys played Pin the Fin on the Shark and spent most of the time snacking and swimming. We took a break from swimming to pose with the Photo Booth Shark!
