Pencil Gift Card Holder
Teacher Appreciation week is coming up soon but there is still time to add a personal touch to your child’s favorite teacher’s gift card! Maybe they like Starbucks or Amazon, grab a gift card and add your child’s name to this cute gift card holder to make with your Cricut. Don’t worry, I’ll walk you through all the steps. First, let’s go over what you will need:
Supplies needed:
Inkjet Printer
Cricut Explore or Cricut Maker of your choice
Cricut Scoring Tool
Gift Card
Pencil Gift Card PNG to upload in Cricut Design Space. (Sign up for my Newsletter below for the file)
Let’s go over the steps…
Step 1
Download the file and upload it into Cricut Design Space.
Step 2
It’s a PNG with a transparent background, so you shouldn’t have to do anything except click the apply and continue button.
Step 3
This will be a print then cut project, so you will select Flat Graphic and click continue
Step 4
Click Upload.
Step 5
Resize the image to 8.38×5.85.
Step 6
Click Shapes on the right hand side menu and click the line.
Step 7
Make sure the line is a SCORE operation. Change the length of the line to 2.85 inches and move it to the center of the pencils like shown above.
Step 8
Insert another line and select the CUT operation. Rotate it 90 degrees and resize it to 2.2 inches long (not 2.85 as shown in the photo, oops). Center the line in the middle of the line shown above. This cut will be the slit for the gift card holder.
Step 9
Select the two lines and the pencil card image and click attach. If you don’t want to add any personalization you can skip to Step 12.
Step 10
To add personalization, insert text by selecting text from the left hand side menu. Select your favorite font and size and center the text in the middle of the eraser portion of the pencil. Change the operation to PRINT THEN CUT.
Step 11
Attach all the components and click continue
Step 12
Select your paper size on the next screen and send the image to your printer. I like to add bleed and I also use the system dialog to select the paper and print quality. I use photo paper and high quality printer settings. Load your photo paper in the printer and print.
Step 12
I also select Heavy Cardstock as my material. Load your Scoring Stylus in your Cricut Machine and make sure you have the Fine Point Blade installed. Apply your photo paper to you cutting mat and load it in the machine. Your Cricut will then read the registration marks on the print out and will score and cut the image.
I created a video to show you the remaining steps…
Step 13
Once the cut is finished, remove it from your cutting mat and fold the card along the scoring line. You can use a bone folder to get a clean edge. Apply adhesive along the edges of the gift card holder and close.
Step 14
Insert the gift card into the slit and you’re all set!
What do you think? Wasn’t that easy? I love how this project turned out!
