I love making delicious treats in the kitchen but I don’t want to spend all afternoon preparing desserts (I’d rather spend more time eating them). If you have some surprise guests coming over, these four quick tart recipes are really easy to put together. Less time in the kitchen means more time cleaning before your guests arrive. My husband teases me that the only time I clean is when we’re expecting guests but why should I do it daily when he’s already so good at it? {wink}
Easy Tart Recipes:
I don’t include specific quantities in this recipe because you simply make as much filling as tart shells that you’re trying to fill. For example, ¼ cup chocolate chips plus ¼ cup jam would fill two medium-sized tart shells. I use the premade graham cracker tart shells for these recipes but they taste just as delicious in pastry tart shells. If you’re looking for easy here, I always buy the prepackaged tart shells.
Although these tart recipes are quick to put together, you’ll want to make them in advance so the fillings have time to harden. If you take a bite of any of these when you first make them, you’ll end up with filling down your chin. You could let them harden in the fridge for a few hours or put them in the freezer for about 30 minutes (don’t put the cream pie one in the freezer though – no one likes crunchy whipped cream).
I topped each with one swirl of vanilla frosting.
Chocolate Raspberry Tarts:
Equal parts chocolate chips (either semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips) and raspberry jam. Put the chocolate and raspberry jam in the microwave for 30-60 seconds until melted then pour into tart shells.
Cream Pie Tarts:
Equal parts vanilla pudding and whipped topping. Simply stir together then put into tart shells. Store in refrigerator.
Chocolate Ganache Tarts:
Equal parts heavy cream (35%) and chocolate chips. Heat cream in pot on stove until boiling then pour over chocolate chips in a bowl. Let stand about 5 minutes before stirring really well until completely mixed. Pour into tart shells.
Caramel Tarts:
For two medium-sized tarts, melt ½ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup heavy cream (35%) and two tablespoons unsalted butter in a pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir constantly until it comes to a boil. Boil for about 5 minutes then pour into tart shells.
