If you have been following my blog you know that theme parties are my favorite and I usually create a themed party for my boys and hubby. Ever since my oldest son was little, he has been fascinated by the realms created by J.R.R. Tolkien in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit books and epic movies. He always admired the way J.R.R. Tolkien brought the epic stories to life. So much that he often spends his spare time writing stories of his own. One of his favorite quotes from LOTR is Bilbo’s “I think I’m quite ready for another adventure.” My son has always hinted at a LOTR party but we just never got around to it. It must have been fate, because I couldn’t have thought of a theme or quote more fitting for his graduation dinner party. I’m so excited to finally share all the fun details from his very own Lord of the Rings Dinner Party!
Disclosure: As an OTC blogger, I received compensation and/or products in exchange for my styling and crafting services. As always, all opinions are my own.
You know, people always warned me about how fast kids grow up and it’s so very true. Watching your first born graduate from High School ignites bitter sweet feelings. Feelings of pride and joy peppered with sadness overwhelmed me at times when I was planning and crafting for his celebration. But I’m happy to report I held it together at his Graduation ceremony. (I do admit I lost it a little at his dinner party when it was time to give a toast over sparkling cider. But that’s okay, I’m a proud Momma!)
Lord of the Rings Party Highlights
Now let’s get to the party! And what a party it was! Family gathered for a wonderful dinner, fun games and just great fellowship in celebration of my son. Special thank you to my parents for gifting a wonderful dinner for the celebration. We enjoyed Prime Rib, Baked Potatoes, Steamed Vegetables and Macaroni & Cheese. Everything was perfect!
Being a huge LOTR fan myself, It was such a joy creating all of the details for my son’s party. Here are just a few of my favorite details, many of which you can read about over at Oriental Trading’s Fun365 site:
I created a couple of signs for the party, you can see my tutorials HERE. As well as the White Tree of Gondor Party Favors.
My son wanted a celebration similar to Bilbo’s 111st Birthday party. You can read more about the details over on at Oriental Trading’s Fun365 HERE.
One of my favorite little details was the banner I made with Kunin Felt. I hand cut each pennant and hung it across the party area. Just like Bilbo’s birthday party!
Lord of the Rings Inspired Desserts
We had an awesome variety of desserts. Everything from cake pops, cereal treats, candy apples, candybobs and cake. All perfectly crafted to match the theme!
Thank you to Angelica from Red Flour Creations for creating the Hobbit House Candy Apples, White Tree of Gondor cereal treats and Eye of Sauron Cake Pops!
And my friend Wynter of Sweets from Heaven knocked it out of the park with these amazing Eye of Sauron Candybobs! These were a huge hit with the guests!
I dressed up a cake with some LOTR character silhouettes I cut with my Cricut. And these fantastic cookies from my friend Katherine of Creating Awesomnessity!
I set up three tables for the guests, you can see all the Lord of The Rings party details at Oriental Trading’s Fun365 HERE. I also created tutorials here on my blog for the Mallorn Leaf Party Favors and LOTR Napkin Rings .
I’m sharing how you can create this Aged Barrel Drink Dispenser over at Oriental Trading’s Fun365 plus my recipe for Chai Tea. I set up the drink station on top of the DIY Wine Barrel Props I made recently.
For the Graduate
Of course I had to set up a table with a collection of my son’s school pictures plus another J.R.R. Tolkien quote I cut with my Cricut. I also hung a Congrats Balloon Garland.
My handsome graduate! I’m so proud of him!
Since we hosted the party in my living and dining rooms, I dressed up our mantel with my son’s collection of memorabilia.
We gifted him this Dwarven Treasure Coin Set a few Christmas’ ago. (affiliate link)
A huge thank you to my sweet friend Alyssa of Just a Little Sparkle for creating these amazing Lord of The Rings party invitations! They were perfect!
Of course we had to have the ONE RING to RULE THEM ALL!
Be sure to see the whole party recap in more detail over at Oriental Trading’s Fun365 plus coordinating tutorials!
As you can see, my son had a wonderful time at our intimate dinner surrounded by our family. And we couldn’t be more proud of our big guy!
Thanks for visiting and I hope you are inspired to create your very own Hobbit or Lord of the Rings party!
